Working with Prayer Beads (A Contemplative Prayer Tool Workshop)

Episcopalian Prayer Beads are a relatively new form of prayer; a blending of the Orthodox Jesus Prayer Rope and the Roman Catholic Rosary. This thirty-three bead design was created by the Rev. Lynn Bauman in the mid-1980s. The use of prayer beads helps to draw us into the presence of God. The touching of the fingers on each prayer bead helps us to keep our mind from wandering; the gentle rhythm of the prayers helps us to calm our bodies into stillness. Please, come and join us to listen, learn and pray. Participants will be shown how to create their own prayer beads, if they wish; or, select a ready-made set.
