Our Refugee Program

Our Refugee Program

Be a part of our Refugee Program and make a real difference in our world

We are sponsoring a Syrian Family of 5, and co-sponsoring two young men with special needs. All individuals have been approved by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

On the Blog you will find a listing of the actions and materials needed to support the refugees on their arrival in Canada, (which may be any day or several weeks).

For volunteer support and item donation you may advise directly on the blog site, and for parish outreach information please also email me or Rev. Patrick at priest. sjnv@telus.net.

The fund raising goal of the 10 Parishes is $75,000 for one year. I am very pleased to report that St. John's Refugee Fund has reached $3,000 of a goal of $7,500 from donations of generous donors.

Financial donations may be made cheque payable to St. Johns or by credit card via our website at http://www.stjohnnv.ca/pages/stewardship-giving , and click on Donate.

Tax receipts will be issued to all donors in excess of $25.00. (An Official notice of our Sponsorship will also be sent from the office in a day or so).

It will be a wonderful journey to walk with these individuals over the next year or two.

Thank you all for your interest and support..

As many of you have offered your interest and support to the Parish Refugee sponsorship, I am pleased to share (the advanced notice of) the link to a blog site set up to record news to Regional Churches who are working in partnership to sponsor refugees to our area. This partnership consists of 10 Churches (Anglican, Lutheran & 2 Presbyterian) who are working in cooperation with the Diocese of New Westminster.
