St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church
Christian Education

Christian Formation is a lifelong process of living into our baptismal covenant and promises.  This includes, but is not limited to, Christian Education.  As children of God, we are called into a relationship with God, which we can develop through reading his spiritual writing, as portrayed in the Holy Bible.

St. John's Bible Study sessions encourage group sharing and learning in weekly meetings.  Our community's passion to recapture and reminisce is celebrated with St. John's Lent and Advent Bible sessions.

St. John's parish has proudly participated in the University of the South Sewanee's most comprehensive and accredited Education for Ministry program (EFM), which encompasses the study of theology, scripture, church history and development of faith.

For the past ten years, St. John has celebrated, hosted and led communal retreats such as the Women's Silent Retreat, taking place at the Bethlehem Retreat Centre in Nanaimo every August.

During the week, the parish rejuvenates the retreat experience in the Sounds of Silence, a unique prayer group that meets on Monday evenings to develop our spirituality in silence.  End your week with our Scripture Prayers on Fridays between 9:30 and 11:30 am.

St. John embraces young people, like Janice Lowell, a student at the Vancouver School of Theology.  Janice is a keen contributor to our community ministry program and worship.  Outside Vancouver, Janice volunteered her time in a practicum mission in Belize in 2007.  The Spring and Summer messages shine light on Janice's adventurous experience.
