DESCRIPTION:PRAYERS FOR SEAFARERS\nThe International Day of the Seafarer (2
 5 June)\, recognized by the United Nations as a day of observance\, was e
 stablished in a resolution adopted by the 2010 Diplomatic Conference in Ma
 nila. Its stated purpose is to recognize the unique contribution made by s
 eafarers from all over the world to international seaborne trade\, the wor
 ld economy and civil society as a whole. The resolution "encourages govern
 ments\, shipping organizations\, companies\, shipowners and all other part
 ies concerned to duly and appropriately promote the Day of the Seafarer an
 d take action to celebrate it meaningfully".\nThe Mission to Seafarers\, V
 ancouver will be expressing our appreciation to the seafarers in word and 
 food on our visits to the ships and in both our seafarer centres.\nWe will
  also be holding a brief time of prayer for the seafarers on Wednesday 24
 th June at 13:00pm in the Chapel of the Waterfront Centre. \nEveryone is 
 welcome to attend as we express our gratitude for the seafarers\, pray for
  their safety\, better working conditions\, their families and the maritim
 e industry.\nThere will be tea and coffee and cookies afterwards.\nThere i
 s some free parking by the Waterfront Centre.\n(At security please present
  government issued photo ID and say you are going to the Mission to Seafar
 ers Centre)\n
