The Christmas Fair is Just 4 Weeks Away!
St. John's Christmas Fair has been a popular North Van tradition for decades!
People come back year after year for our delicious baked goods, unique gift ideas and wonderful gift baskets! In recent years, the St. Martin's group brought over the Bottle Table, where everyone wins a prize!
Many helpful hands are needed to make this event a success. Can you help?
- NOTE: Please do not bring any items to be stored at the church before Friday, November 28th
- Baked goods are needed! There are never enough cookies, tarts, brownies, nuts & bolts, and more! A Baking Table guide will be available at the Welcome Table to help you prepare your goodies for sale.
- Bottles are needed! Whether you bring in bottles of Olive Oil or bottles of Canadian Whiskey, jars of pickles or cans of pop, everything will be put out for someone to win. Please start collecting now - these can be brought to the Welcome Table any Sunday until the 28th.
- Crafts! Sewing, quilting, knitting, beading ... whatever your craft, we welcome them to sell!
- Christmas Rummage! Always a popular table, your old Christmas mugs, Holiday dishware, Christmas decorations, Holiday DVDs ... as long as they are Christmas themed, we welcome your rummage for the Christmas Rummage table
- Giftables! That gift that Aunt Clara gave you, the one still sitting in its original packaging, the one that is really nice but you have no use for? Bring that for the giftables table! Items for this table should be new (or practically new) and ready to give as a gift. This is not another rummage table - please, only giftables!
- Jewellery! Another popular table, especially for the children looking for something nice to give Mom or Dad, Grandma or Grandpa. Your good-condition costume jewellery could be just the gift someone is looking for, at a price they just can't beat. Please help the elves and ensure all the detangling is done before you bring in your jewellery.
- Gift Basket Draw! We still need a couple more gift baskets to raffle off at the Christmas Fair. Popular themes have been Coffee Break baskets, Movie Night baskets, Gourmet Cooking baskets, and more. Let us know if you would like to put together a basket for the raffle. Baskets should value approximately $50.
- People Power! None of this happens without volunteers! We need your help:
- Setting up tables and table cloths, and collecting donations on Friday, Nov 28
- Decorating the lounge on Friday, Nov 28
- Staffing the tables, selling items, selling raffle tickets, etc at the sale on Saturday, Nov 29
- Cleaning up, packaging up unsold items after the sale on Saturday, Nov 29
Look for the sign-up sheet at the Welcome Table. If you have any questions, reach out to Donna in the office, stjohnnv@telus.net.
