This statement of hope was issued after a conservative Anglican movement decided to reject the authority of the new Archbishop of Canterbury, as well as rejecting the Instruments of Communion. In response, Canadian Primate Shane Parker and the Metropolitans of the Anglican Church of Canada reaffirmed the Solemn Declaration of 1893 found in the Book of Common Prayer.
