Dear Parishioners of St. John’s,

I sincerely hope this letter finds you all well. I am very pleased, that we are well into our second year of in-person worship services and our tea and coffee fellowship.  I am also very pleased with the successful merger with St. Martin’s.  For all those who worked hard to make this a smooth and meaningful transition my many thanks.  To those from St. Martin’s who have joined us we once again welcome you.  I would in addition like thank those who are joining our worship online.  If you are enjoying these online services, please let us know.

I would also like to take this time to briefly update you all on the finances of St. John’s for 2023.  Our major renter, Back-to-Basics Daycare, is paying us their full rent and we look forward to renegotiating their lease in the coming year.  Our other significant renter, the Korean Light Church, is paying their full rent after experiencing the effects of the pandemic on their congregation. One-time rentals of our facilities are also starting to slowly pick up.

We now find ourselves in the fall of 2023 and I’m happy to report that our expenses and rental income are on target for the year. However, I do have to report that our envelope givings are down by 15% from budget.  While there may be numerous reasons for this, it is a concern to me.

I would therefore kindly ask that you might prayerfully consider maintaining or fulfilling your monthly giving by either mailing or dropping off a cheque at the Church office or bringing your offering to the in-person services. I also humbly invite you to prayerfully consider increasing your giving if you are in a position and feel comfortable in so doing.  If you are new to St. John’s, please do contact me or Bev Provost, our Donor Administrator, as to how you can contribute regularly and be an important part of our ongoing ministry.  If you do not do so already, please consider setting up pre-authorized donations.  As always, I thank everyone for your incredible offerings of time, talent and treasure to St. John’s and its mission to our community and the world.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me or one of the Wardens or Patrick.  In conclusion, I and all of Parish Council thank everyone for taking the time to read this and I thank you in advance for your prayerful considerations.

Sincerely Yours,

Bob Hardy,

Treasurer St. John’s Anglican Church
