After the success of the first-ever Regional Pilgrimage last year, North Shore Anglican Churches will bring all the parishes and their neighbourhoods together for this year’s Regional Pilgrimage on September 23rd.

The group of pilgrims from St. Catherine’s, St. Clement, St. Agnes, and St. John the Evangelist will gather at Saint Catherine’s Anglican Church in Edgemont Village, 1058 Ridgewood Dr, North Vancouver, BC V7R 1H8 at 9:15 a.m. to start the journey and finish it at Victoria Park, 650 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC V7M 2G8 near St. John the Evangelist. A luncheon in the park will follow to cap off the pilgrimage.

Prior to the pilgrimage, a preparation session titled ‘Walking as Spiritual Practice’ hosted by the North Shore parish priests will be held on Zoom on September 21st from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The pilgrimage will start with a prayer of thanksgiving using a Creation Season liturgy. Pilgrims will sing, walk and pray on their way to St. Clement's, Lynn Valley, St. Agnes, Grand Boulevard and finally to St. John the Evangelist at 8th Street and Chesterfield, pausing to bless the wonderful creeks, the trees and the neighbourhoods.

Relevant prayers will be offered at each parish.

Each pilgrim will be given a Pilgrimage passport designed this year by Rev. Elizabeth Mathers to collect the stamps of all the churches on the way.

This will be a 10km walk, don’t forget sunscreen, water and comfortable walking shoes.

Taking part in pilgrimages is a spiritual practice and part of living a healthy and meaningful life. Throughout Christian history, we have seen life itself as a journey, one that originates from God and ends in God.
