The Order of the Diocese of New Westminster serves to recognize and honour lay members of the diocese who have shown exceptional dedication through volunteer ministry over a substantial period. The Investiture Service occurs biennially.

This year, the ODNW will be bestowed on Jean Welsh, for her tireless work helping people in need on the streets, collecting food and clothing for them, and distributing gift cards so they can get a good meal. Jean's Box, one of her many interests, collects clothing all year round, for the Lookout Shelter, the Mission to Seafarers, and the North Shore Crisis Centre. On top of that, Jean manages the gardening team, keeping our grounds looking beautiful, and is often at the church in the pouring rain sweeping up leaves or pulling weeds. And Jean is always ready to welcome a stranger to the church, get them sorted with a bulletin, and help them find their way around. We are so happy to see Jean awarded the ODNW for all her good works.

The ceremony has very limited seating, but the ceremony will be streamed live. You can stay home and watch the ceremony live from St. Andrew's-Wesley Church in Vancouver, Saturday November 7 starting at 10:30am.
