Here is this week's quote that provides food for thought or inspiration, or, better yet, both. If you have any suggestions for quotes please pass them along to Donna in the office.

“The beauty of the trees, the softness of the air,

the fragrance of the grass, speaks to me.

The summit of the mountain,

the thunder of the sky,

the rhythm of the sea, speaks to me.

The faintness of the stars,

the freshness of the morning,

the dew drop on the flower, speaks to me.

The strength of fire, the taste of salmon,

the trail of the sun,

and the life that never goes away,

They speak to me. And my heart soars”

-Chief Dan George

“My Heart Soars”

Tsleil-Waututh leader Chief Dan George wrote of his connectedness with nature, and his joy found in the works of the Great Creator. What does this poem say to your soul?

Photos by Alison Brookfield:

This photo was taken at Xwawchayay (pronounced hwow-chy-eye) the Squamish Nation name for Porteau Cove. The view is across Átl'ḵa7tsem (pronounced at-KAT-sum), which translates to "paddling up the Sound" and is the Squamish name for Howe Sound. The area has been used for thousands of years by Squamish ancestors for fishing, gathering, and travelling.
I have also included the photo of the Welcome Figure that is at Xwawchayay and carved by Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) members and students from St'a7mes School in Squamish.
