The Survivors’ Flag is an expression of remembrance, meant to honour residential school Survivors and all the lives and communities impacted by the residential school system in Canada. Each element depicted on the flag was carefully selected by Survivors from across Canada, who were consulted in the flag’s creation.
The Survivors’ Flag was created through the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation in consultation with residential school survivors across Canada.
After Sacred Circle 2025, Anglican Primate of Canada Shane Parker called on all Anglican parishes to display the Survivors’ flag as a symbol of recognition, respect and hope.
Elements in the flag include The Family, The Children, The Seeds Below Ground, The Tree of Peace, Cedar Branch, Cosmic Symbolism, The Métis Sash, The Eagle Feather, and The Inuksuit.
