Dear fellow Parishioners of St. John's,

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the sudden, but peaceful, passing of our dear friend and devoted Christian, Wendy Middleton. Wendy passed away on February 1st- at Lion's Gate hospital - in the loving arms of extended family.  Her Daughter Becky with Patrick, Madeline and Deborah were there earlier to share in final prayers.

Wendy was a long-time parishioner at St. John's - her devoted service spanning well over 2 decades.

Wendy had an incredible Soprano voice that one marvelled to hear how it could hit the high notes with such ease and grandeur.

She had a great passion for St. John's choir and was ecstatic when St. John's 'Choir to Go' would visit her in Capilano Care as she loved to hear them sing the sacred, gospel and old-time music and had formed ever-lasting friendships with many of its members.

Wendy was a person who one immediately felt at ease with.  She made you feel at home and showed a Mother's kindness to everyone.

She was a marvellous cook, fabulous baker (with an incurable sweet tooth).  She was an expert knitter, a marvellous conversationalist and an always supportive church volunteer.

Wendy had an effervescent personality that rolled with the punches;  an eternally positive outlook that would help her to endure and accept the more difficult times that would challenge her throughout life's journey.

Wendy was a devoted Mom, beloved grandma, sister, friend who was loved and adored.

She had a great sense of humour and l love of anything British.

A memorial service will be held for Wendy at St John's Church on Saturday, February 13 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow in the Lower Church Lounge.

Until then, please remember Wendy - the many gifts that she brought to this world to make it a better place; the love that she gave to us - and hold up Wendy's loving spirit, her family, in your thoughts and prayer.
