Dear Parishioners of St. John’s,

I sincerely hope this letter finds you all well and safe.

I am very pleased, as I am sure you all are, that St. John’s is once again open to in-person worship and that we are able to meet downstairs for tea and coffee.  It is great to be back in the Church and share time with each other.  I know some of you are not ready to come back right now, but we hope that situation will change soon.  I would like to thank the many people who have made coming back to Church safe and enjoyable.  I would also acknowledge the people who are now watching our livestream services.  If you are enjoying these online services, please let us know.

I would also like to take this time to briefly update you all on the finances of St John’s over the past few months.  Our major renter, Back To Basics Daycare, is back to paying us their full rent and has fully reimbursed us for what they missed during the pandemic.  Our other significant renter, the Korean Light Church, is also back to paying their full rent as of this past September.  One-time rentals are also starting to pick up, but slowly.

I would also like to heartily welcome our new parishioners who have merged with us from St Martin’s.  As we move forward together, I look forward to talking with you all and making new friends.  If any of you have questions regarding our finances, please do let me know.  Once again, welcome!

We now find ourselves in the third fall months of this still unpredictable time.  I am happy to report that our spending and most of our income are on target for this year. However, I do have to report that our envelop giving’s are down by 15% from what we budgeted.  While there may be numerous reasons for this, it is of some concern to me.  While the Church is now open for worship and a number of our parishioners are back for worship, most of our expenses remain the same.

I would therefore kindly ask that you might prayerfully consider maintaining your monthly giving by either mailing or dropping off a cheque at the Church office or bringing your offering to the in-person services. I also humbly invite you to prayerfully consider increasing your giving if you are in a position and feel comfortable in so doing.  If you are new to St. John’s please do contact me or Bev, our Envelope Secretary, as to how you can contribute regularly and be an important part of our ongoing ministry.  As always, I thank everyone for your incredible offerings of time, talent and treasure to St. John’s and its mission to our community and the world.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me or one of the Wardens or Patrick.  I thank you for taking the time to read this and I thank you in advance for your prayerful considerations.

Sincerely Yours,

Bob Hardy, Treasurer, St. John’s Anglican Church
